Daily reset: 00:00 EST (UTC−5). Weekly reset: Monday 00:00 EST. Summer uses the same fixed UTC−5 clock. Rankings are separate for each quiz mode. Only your first answer to each question per EST day counts; weekly records include those daily answers. Speed uses server-measured time from opening a question to receiving its answer. An unanswered question abandoned for a new run breaks your current streak. Guests keep their Guest# number in this browser; signed-in records follow your account from a new run.

        How to play & sources

Choose a challenge or mix all seven topics. Each run has up to 10 or 20 different blocks. Choose one of four answers and earn one point per correct answer. Wrong answers reset your streak. Review your choices at the end.

All gameplay facts use Java Edition 26.3. Hardness is a block property, not mining time. Blast resistance is distinct from explosion strength. Tool questions ask whether the tool meets the harvest requirement; other loot conditions still apply.

Read the mining-drop conditions: Silk Touch, correct tool, default state, and no Fortune, shears, or explosion. Some items are possible random drops. Light questions ask about the maximum emitted block light, including lit states. XP is for mining with no enchantments and excludes stored smelting rewards. Natural creaking hearts have an explicit condition.

Cube previews are rendered from official Mojang / Minecraft textures; their source model is linked below each image. Previews are illustrative, and the written question defines the gameplay state. Only complete, untinted cube models are included. Visually identical blocks are excluded from name questions. Sources and answer explanations appear after each answer.

No account is needed. Personal bests stay in this browser, separately for each mode and run length. Development, removed, and April Fools blocks are excluded.

        How question tiers work

Every question has its own community difficulty tier. The order below runs from easiest to hardest. This is the question’s difficulty, separate from your personal score.

        1. LT5
        2. MT5
        3. HT5
        4. LT4
        5. MT4
        6. HT4
        7. LT3
        8. MT3
        9. HT3
        10. LT2
        11. MT2
        12. HT2
        13. LT1
        14. MT1
        15. HT1

New questions start at HT5, marked provisional until five answers are counted. After every five counted answers, the tier moves by at most one step toward its community accuracy target. More correct answers move it toward LT5; fewer correct answers move it toward HT1. Two initial correct and two incorrect observations smooth small samples, so a few answers do not cause a sudden jump.

Only the first answer per question per browser per UTC day counts toward community statistics. Replaying still updates your score. An anonymous browser cookie keeps these daily counts separate; no sign-in is needed. Tier changes and counts are shared across players and saved on the server. If syncing is unavailable, you can keep playing, but the displayed tier may be outdated.

Learn to recognize blocks and their properties

Choose a block topic or a mixed run to connect familiar textures with their gameplay properties. A correct tool, Silk Touch, or a block’s state can change the answer to a mining question, so read each question’s conditions before choosing.
